  • If you support someone with an illness or are unwell yourself, you may face practical and emotional problems from time to time. This group is to look at tips and suggestions that may be of comfort & support.

    Remember that there is no ‘one size fits all’ model for these situations. How you care for someone or yourself will depend on you and the people around you

    It can help to understand the diagnosis and how it affects the person. Setting out roles and responsibilities with friends & close family can be useful.

    Be patient – getting better can take time.

    You or the person you care for may have very challenging and complex behaviour. This can cause a lot of stress between you and the person you are caring for. 

    Encourage the person you’re supporting or yourself to be independent and take part in everyday activities.

    Remember that you are not to blame if things get difficult.

    Make sure you look after yourself and your own wellbeing.

The National Survivors Network has been setup to provide peer support for adult survivors of childhood abuse.   Membership is open to anyone to gain an understanding of peer support.

As a member you can access:

  • Support Network of peers, professionals & supporters.
  • Dedicated chat apps which are available for smartphones.  
  • Support groups that enable survivors to work with each other. view groups
