Addictions

Addictions are not limited to things like Drugs/Alcohol, they can include things like Gambling,...

  • Addiction may include prescription medications

Most people think of illegal drugs when they hear the word “addiction”. However, prescription drug addiction has become a serious public health problem. Prescription medication abuse is now being described as “an epidemic” by many researchers.

Some scientists have explained that doctors today treat pain differently than they used to years ago. This change has led to an increase in prescription drug abuse.

However,  substance & drug abuse as described above is only a small portion of what this group is about.  It is well known that people with an addiction do not have control over what they are doing, taking or using. The addiction often reaches a point at which it is harmful to them self or others around them.

Addictions do not only include physical things we consume, such as drugs or alcohol, but may include virtually anything, such things as gambling sex, taking risks like unprotected sex or using the internet,  even seemingly harmless products, such as chocolate - in other words, addiction may refer to a substance dependence (e.g. drug addiction) or behavioural addiction (e.g. gambling addiction).

Please feel free to securely discuss any addictions here and with the support and encouragement of others see if can help you or anyone that you care for break the addiction one day at a time.
